The Garden Gourmet Composter is one of the more popular composters being sold today.
The Garden Gourmet is a traditional compost bin, it’s not a tumbling composter nor does it have any real moving parts.
The Garden Gourmet was featured on the Oprah Winfrey show, so it’s gotten a lot of press.
It’s actually manufactured by Scepter Corporation and licensed for distribution in the US by the name Garden Gourmet.
There are many other compost bins that are offered for sale that appear quite similar.
They have been shipping for years, so there’s a good deal of real world experience that says they will last in the outdoor elements.
The key features are that it’s made from mostly recycled plastics.
The size is average, it’s about 24 inches on each side, and about 3 feet tall, so the capacity is about 11 cubic feet ( the roof slants a little).
The roof works well to keep too much rain from saturating the compost pile.
It assembles with no tools, and has air vents.
It doesn’t have a floor, which may be a problem if you have rodents that try to get into you fresh compost material.
It also has a door on the bottom, and with the idea that garden waste goes into the top bin (there is a small door on the top as well) and the compost can be taken out of the bottom door.
There are two ways you can approach using any compost bin with a door on the bottom.
You can do as advertised, and just add waste to the top and let the compost happen.
If you don’t have a lot of garden waste, and are OK with the compost taking months to rot, this can work well.
It’s certainly the easier approach, but you don’t get a lot of compost that way.
The alternative is to work the compost in batches, where you stop adding fresh materials to the bin and actively turn the compost regularly.
If you have a good mix of materials and turn it every few days you can have compost in a matter of weeks, not months.
Which says that you can get several batches of compost a year from it.
If you want to do that, it’s best to use a good compost turning tool like the Compost Crank, or your alternative is to simply take the compost bin up and off the pile, set it next to the pile, and put it back in, which does a great job of turning the compost but is a lot more work.
The issue you have to deal with is what to do with the fresh compost material when you are working the first batch.
In that case the only real option is to have a second bin or pile to queue up the new material until you are ready to start working it.
The Garden Gourmet is a good choice for a simple low cost compost bin.
It can be used in low maintenance, slow composting mode, or you can use it to turn out several batches a year. Either way it’s a good bin.
